Griffith College Basketball woman's team continues 100% start.

Griffith College woman's team have made a superb start to the season winning their first two league matches. It's the first time that Griffith College has fielded a woman's basketball team and despite the great start Coach David Baker is making sure that the team remain focused. When asked about the set up of the woman's team Coach Baker had this to say. "Exciting times ahead for the Griffith College Woman's team with us sitting top on the Basketball Ireland's college league 2-0 after defeating both Blanchardstown IT and IT Tallaght both by over 20 points."
Griffith played their first game away in ITB beating them on a score-line of 35-60. Despite a tricky start to the match, Griffith soon took over control and ran out conformable winners in the end. Next up they hosted ITT in the Oblates Basketball hall in Inchicore. This time the girls started as they meant to go on and took it to ITT in the first quarter. The fast start was to much however and Griffith ran out comfortable winners 68-37 in the end.
"We have a small but very talented panel with scholarship athletes Eli Sagrera, Kelsey Carey and Kristine Miller all dominating on court but picking up Sindhuri and Arielle has really helped both having played in the past. Honestly everyone from Lauren and Ashley have really stepped up into the squad adding value."

Finally coach Baker concluded with "we're sitting in a good spot which is a shock to most in the league considering it's our first year so hopefully with some hard work we can be there come the end of the season."
Watch this space over the coming months. I would like to all the Griffith College and Griffith College Swords Thunder teams all the best over the rest of the season and hopefully there will be some silverware at the end.
